MOTs, diagnostics, servicing and repairs
The jobs AV Autocentre lists, from the yearly MOT to a clutch, a timing belt or a battery. Whatever it is, reviewers say they are told what was found and why.
- MOT testingThe yearly test, with anything found explained.MOTs are what most reviewers come in for: Google picks out the MOT in 63 reviews. One reviewer had the MOT done in 30 minutes and waited inside; another came over from Greenford for work and found the team "spot on to find the issues". You can wait in the seating area inside or drop the car off.
- Diagnostics and faultsWarning lights, noises and faults, found properly.Diligent diagnosis is one of the things Google picks out of the reviews. One reviewer's technician "accurately diagnosed the fault" and gave a fair price for the repair; another came in for diagnostics and calls it quick and easy. Describe what the car is doing and the team will tell you what they find.
- ServicingRegular servicing, with genuine parts. One long-standing customer has had three BMWs serviced here and says the team use genuine OEM parts and "will always only do work when it is necessary". Ask what your service will include when you book.
- BrakesPads, discs and anything that doesn't feel right.Brakes are one of the jobs AV Autocentre lists. One reviewer brought her own brake discs, which most garages wouldn't fit, and was charged for the labour at what she calls a reasonable price. Ring before bringing your own parts so the team know what's coming.
- ClutchesSlipping, juddering or hard to get into gear.Clutch replacement comes up in the reviews. If the clutch is slipping, the biting point has moved or gears are hard to find, describe what it's doing and the team will check it and explain what they find.
- ExhaustsBlows, rattles and a louder car than usual.Exhaust work is one of the jobs the garage lists. If the car has got louder, something rattles underneath or you can smell fumes, bring it in and the team will look at the system and its mountings.
- Timing beltsChanged when it's due, not before.Timing belts are one of the jobs AV Autocentre lists. When yours is due depends on the car, so check the handbook or service history, or ring with the registration and ask.
- BatteriesSlow starts and flat batteries.Batteries are one of the jobs the garage lists. If the car is slow to start, or has gone flat more than once, the team can check the battery and the charging before replacing anything.
